Ask the Editors

Ask the Editors
Episode 1

Hello everyone, and welcome to the very first episode of Ask the Editors. Much like another famous Episode One, this one is likely going to be quite bad. Stick around though, because I feel that by Episode Four it should get really good.

As of now, we do not have many questions to choose from so we have decided to start with a fun one to break the ice. This one is from our Question Box:

"How fabulous is the name Valley Girl? The story behind it is unimportant."
~Rani Valley

“Well, Rani Valley, I am not sure 'fabulous' is the word I would go with. Practical perhaps. I always assumed your name was Valley Girl because you are a girl from Thorn Valley. By my logic, if you were a boy from the Borderlands you would have been called Border Boy. But the fact that you have mentioned a story behind it means that it likely has more meaning than that.

I am going to have to disagree that the story behind is it unimportant. Nicknames are something that you can't really choose for yourself, they are given to you based on things like location, past deeds, and quirky personality traits. Obviously Valley Girl is a nickname, though I will admit I didn't know your real name until right this minute, and how you acquired the nickname is pertinent information when deciding if it's fabulous, awful, or some adjective in between. So the jury is still out.

Now I am quite a bit older than you, so 'Valley Girl' has a connotation that you probably have never even heard of. There is an actual movie from the 80's called Valley Girl, but that was even a little before my time, or at least the time I was watching coming of age teen flicks. No, I think of this:

If you don't know who or what this is, then I just can't even. "Whatever.”

Was this question not to your liking? Would you like to see a different question answered? Then step up and do something about it! Ask your own questions. This question was asked to the editors at large and I just happen to be the only one with an answer, but you can ask specific editors if you'd like. Questions can be IC or OOC, anonymous or identified, and about any aspect of our game and/or LARP in general. So if you'd like to make us do more work for the zero dollars we make, please ask away! Information on how to participate will be attached to the bottom of every episode.

Thank you all for reading, and join us soon for our next episode when we answer the very important question: “Why don't people NPC as much?”

Questions can be sent to Sara “Zarine” Jessop via email ( Sarajjesop@gmail.com), facebook messenger, or in person. The question box will also be making the rounds at various events. Please note if you'd like your question to remain anonymous and/or if you would like to address specific editors.
