Why I Want to Go- Feast of the Leviathan XXII: Hearth and Home

by Renee "Kindrianna" Booke

Deep in the heart of winter, there exists a time-honored feast so delightful that it melts the dreary cold from the bones and lures us from our dens with the promise of food, fun, and good company. I’m talking, of course, about Feast of Leviathan! This year, Rhiassa celebrates the feast’s twenty-second year running and I am delighted to attend.

For those of you who might have missed it, the team is moving towards a more open hall during the daytime. People who like to wander about and socialize may enjoy this change, for it doesn’t require you to be seated at your table to enjoy tasty treats and appetizers. Servers will have platters of food circling the halls, and there is also going to be a revolving station for more, plus a bar serving the famous Rhiassan Fruit Fizz.

One of my personal favorite things about Feast of Leviathan has always been the ambiance. In many ways, it feels like a Festival with all its liveliness. Merchants line the halls with their finely crafted wares, and nearby the Gilded Lion Carnival is set up for adventurers to try their hand at winning gold or other prizes. There are so many games and non-combat tournaments, puzzles, and Bardics that you won’t be lacking in things to do. I rather like watching my friend Mogar engage in the drama and intrigue of Merchant Barons. It is here that I first heard him utter the phrase “Orconomics.” If that wasn’t enough to get you pumped, however, then maybe this will wow you! On top of everything else they are offering, Rhiassa has arranged for a showing by Rhiassan Cub Care, The Chimeron Casino Royale and the Adventurer’s Guild!

When the evening comes the Realms gathers to read off the results of the View from Valehaven Awards, and we, as a community, get to celebrate how lucky we are that we have so many amazing and creative contributors that make us what we are. There are bound to be smiling faces that we all love and recognize which makes it even more delightful to share in that joy and sense of accomplishment.

So, put on your boots and pick up your shovels, heroes of the Realms! Dig yourselves free and come and join me in the halls of Rhiassa where we can enjoy delicious food and an event that promises to be fun for everyone.
