Basic and Limited Yosei

by Zach Senchuk

Any of the Yosei found on View for Valehaven with the Folkestone watermark can be printed and played with for fun (and we encourage you to) anytime you wish to use Yosei in a more "official" way (at events for plot reasons) you will have to use the non-watermarked version. We hope this will allow everyone to enjoy the fun of making different teams and identifying which Yosei they would like to trade for, while not making it so you have to have them before testing them out.
[Editor's Note: to see the post on Yosei fights, please click here]

**********

Basic Yosei: These Yosei can be befriended by all people of the Realms, the ways to attract them are outlined in this article:

https://viewfromvalehaven.blogspot.com/2019/08/spreading-wisdom_29.html

Some Yosei will be released in only a limited capacity- these Yosei can be traded (as with all Yosei) but will not be able to be tracked down again in the future when looking for wild Yosei.

As more Yosei become known to us, we will update the lists that will be going out later this week.

Rumors for March 1020

[Across the Realms]

Individuals identifying themselves as part of the Order of Many Pasts have been seen at taverns, churches, and other gathering places. They have apparently been asking to interview people about their dreams. They are friendly when turned down, but seem to be unusually, unnervingly interested in even the most trivial dreams that are shared.
~~~
Word on the wind's breath is that there is a strong magical creature called a "Praecantatio Osseus Leo" in the distant mountains of an unmarked region. Supposedly this creature holds an ancient curse set upon it by the dark one as a means of trying to gain control over it. Word has it that recently, this beast was found dead with its head removed, likely as a trophy. Some travelers have also been overheard discussing that the head of the beast may still hold the curse that was placed upon it, caution is advised.
[Chimeron]
In taverns throughout Chimeron, the common folk can be heard sharing sightings of a mysterious white creature running through the woods. Scouts and hunters have so far been unable to track this creature, so accounts vary wildly as to what it is or if it even truly exists.
[Dark Isle]
A rumbling through the island can be heard. Villagers have begun to go missing on the Blackwood and Grimloch sides of the island. A strange green and Bright Glow emanates from the Creathorne Embassy.
[Sharingil]
On the South Eastern Shore Near Silverport, Lightning And thunder thrashes the sky as it seems that the Storm portal has been reactivated. In Silverport a strange light is emanating from the Tower of Mourning.
[Teng Hua]
The Prefecture of Hana no Okoku and the Yashida family have been busily preparing for the Spring Flower Festival. Not only will the Emperor be in attendance, but rumor has it that representatives from the Watanabe and Matsumoto families will also be in attendance. As all three families trade in similar things, one has to wonder if business will be discussed.
~~~
A red haired woman, seemingly from the mainland, wearing a blue and white tabard has been seen wandering Teng Hua, with purpose, speaking with different landowners. She seems to be scouting for an area to hold some sort of tournament.
~~~
Yosei handlers everywhere are getting ready for the warmer months and the yosei tournaments that come with them. With the influx of new handlers it seems that the League may have to hold some more entry level tournaments. Rumor has it that the Grand Tournament at the end of the season may have an extra special prize.
Yosei Fight Rules
by Zach Senchuk
One of the many different aspects people of the Realms will encounter as they explore the lands of Tenghua are Yosei and their handlers. Adventurers of the Realms will have opportunities to befriend/tame these Yosei and fight alongside them in Yosei matches, both with other wild Yosei but in addition against people of Tenghua/other Adventurers in matches using Yosei they have befriended/tamed.
Yosei fights are a match of 6v6. Each team will have the chance to choose the Yosei they would like to use after seeing the arena, but each team may only have 1 Yosei of each unique name on their team at a time. Before the fight both teams will have a chance to see the abilities of the enemy Yosei by lining up and showing each other their Yosei cards.
Yosei Stats: Every Yosei will have the following things located on it’s card:
Element- This is located in the upper right of the card, and is also indicated by the color of the card. This stat shows what type of missile that Yosei may throw unless otherwise noted by other text on the card.
Aura Armor- This is armor that is used up the first time a Yosei is struck by any non armor piercing blow to any legal hit location.
Missiles- This is how many missiles the Yosei will bring to the fight at the start of the match. Yosei may throw any Missiles of their Element, and colorless, unless otherwise stated by their Yosei Card/ their team’s Yosei Cards.
Weapon Length- Yosei have a wide range of physical capabilities, the length of their weapon is determined by this stat.
Abilities- Each Yosei have different abilities that will affect their impact on the combat. These are located in the bottom center of the Yosei Card.
Terrain: There will be different Terrain across the different arenas of Teng Hua. These impact the way you and your team will strategize on what Yosei to bring and your team compositions. You can always expect Missiles of that type of Terrain to be on/near that Terrain feature.  The possible Terrain and their rules are as follows:
Metal: Blocks what it Blocks
Wind: Blocks what it Blocks
Wood: Blocks what it Blocks
Earth: Blocks what it Blocks
Void: One foot in it’s gone, two feet in you’re dead.
Fire: One foot in it’s gone, two feet in you’re dead.
Water: Must kneel while in water terrain
Special Combat Calls:
Many Abilities that Yosei have resemble spells in our magic system, however Yosei can also perform abilities that the casters of The Realms cannot. This small list is not exhaustive of the abilities and effects Yosei are capable of but will introduce you to the most common ones.
Root- Cannot move feet for 10 seconds
Bind- Cannot move arms for 5 Seconds
Freeze- Cannot move ANYTHING for 5 seconds, immune to damage during the time period.
Silence- Cannot talk for 10 seconds
Disarm- Must immediately drop anything in their hands, cannot pick it up until it reaches the ground.
(OOC: It is our hope that with these rules new players coming into the plot will have an idea of how these fights will work, but also give clarity to any players interested in using these rules outside of our event series. I hope our players stick with us as we develop this, and many other aspects of the plot. I can’t thank you all enough for how well you all have bought in so far, and we look forward to ramping into the event series as the year continues)
What You Missed: You! You! Fight to the Death! 1020
By Ethan "Alias" Knight
You you fight to the Death was a tournament where new players fought to the Death. They had tournaments with different weapon combos. They ran through all the weapon combos. I won the pike tournament and got second place in the dagger tournament. They also had puzzles. They had a puzzle packet that you obtained by fighting an NPC. The puzzles were difficult because you had to know the different nations. I did not know the nations so I had to go and socialize and talk to people from different nations and learn about the different nations. They also had a mage maze which I did not get a chance to do so I can not tell you anything about it. There was a bean bag toss or they called magic missile toss. They had archery where you shot at 3 different targets for different amounts of points. I lost badly at that. At the end there were prizes. The prizes consisted of gold and a magic amulet that grants the welder one learning of regenerations, and a very cool single short made by WPI’s very own Kersten/Ypnn. This was a very interesting event if they do this again next year I recommend you go.
Puzzle Me This
by Tucker "Temorse" Noyes
This puzzle is called a Connecting Wall.  It is a 4x4 grid of words and concepts that are all connected somehow in four sets of four.  Although you may find some sets of four that would make sense together, there is one way to connect them all so all four make sense.
Below are 3 links to the walls, of roughly three different difficulty levels.  Each wall is timed, and awards 1 point for each successful connection you make, and 1 additional point for correctly guessing the connection once the wall is complete, and 2 bonus points if you finish the whole wall in time.  The wall lasts for 3 minutes.  Once you get down to the last two sets, you will only get three guesses before you forfeit the rest of your time.
