Dear Syruss,
As an animal lover I always wondered why Grimloch has dogs and is that the national animal of the group?
Sincerely,
A man with too many cats

Dear Plethora of Pussycats (it’s a family column),
Great question! I just so happen to be the question-answerer-guy as well as the answer all at once!
Why does Grimloch have dogs? ME! But I bet you a more thought out response. Way back when in the early years of Grimloch was unveiled in 1003 Blade introduced his squad of PJ, Boom, Guilliam, Stryker, Steele, Nighthawk, Luna and Slaader (that’s right folks Slaader)! The next addition to the group came in the form of Rohde, Biggs, and Jaha in 1003.  Finally Randolph and Curly joined at Tourneys of Creathorne 1004. Now Blade had recruited all he wanted for his new group and was content with his current roster.
In comes a lovable doughy eyed Syruss and he started questing and rolling with Jaha Biggs, Rohde, and Randolph. They seemed to like me, or at least liked seeing me do cray-cray things, so at my first Tournaments of the Blue Rose they suggested I join and I was jazzed. I watched these guys at every fight practice and hitting each gathering on the weekends so rolling with people who were constantly around and at the same time pushing me to be the best was the ideal situation for this young adventurer.
Well the next gathering they went up to their Warlord Sir Blade and said this kid Syruss should join Grimloch and Blade said f@*k NO! After some back and forth and Jaha pissing Blade off (believe it or not) Blade asked what I brought to the table and that he only wanted the best of the best in this group. So Jaha and Rohde said something to the effect of well let’s give him a chance to prove he fits in, Rohde said something like he can be our slave and Blade liked the idea of still saying no at the end of the year if he still hated me.
The term dog was something Blade created after some debate about what a petitioner should be called (It was almost Gremlin’s) as well as how the tabard should be different something missing (was almost a care-bear riding a “my little pony”…….they hated me).
From there the term just stuck through the group and then the Realms. Actually for years we highly defended the term believing only Grimloch members could call the petitioner’s that. We even went so far as to strike down those who would use that “degrading” term outside the group. But over time when we saw more “Dogs” become full-fledged members than originals the title became more of a badge of honor members even including it among their list of titles. Also, why shouldn’t they be proud? The dog ranks have spawned some of the fiercest competitors and strongest of individuals I have ever seen.
As far as what the Nations animal is, No it is not the “Dog”, it is in fact the Bengal Tiger.
Regards
Sir Syruss O’Leary of Grimloch
