What You Missed- The Auction at Blue Rose

What an amazing thing it is to be remembered by a community that you were part of close to two decades before you passed away, to have people who weren't born when you were, donating to your family in your memory.

Being on site for the auction that the Knights of the Blue Rose conducted to raise money for former player, and US combat veteran Gregg O'Brien was an honor. Witnessing the generous donation, and at times ridiculously high bids as people obviously participated in the spirit of giving vs. one of hoping for a bargain, reminded those present of what it truly unique and great about our community.  Multiple people donated quality items, some of which sold for up to 5 times their value. There was a playful spirit at times, with friends bidding against friends to deliberately push up bids being met with smiles.  Many people's purchases totaled in the hundreds with at least one generous individual spending over $500.

At the end of the day the auction generated approximately $2,800 in donations (final contributions are still coming in).  If you would like to learn more about Gregg, you can do so  through this article. If you'd like to donate and haven't gotten a chance, donations can still be made to Jesse Gifford by pay pal (giffordjc@gmail.com).
