Question of the Week - 120

Should we remove 2-point armor from the system and make 1-point armor the maximum allowed?

  1. I have been against this for a few years as well as against 3 points. but I have to admit, I would love to see a few big events try this out. But I feel if this was to happen, casters must lose the option to drop their top level spell(s) for armor and instead if they do so they only get armored cloak which would be removed as a 4th circle spell and put as just an option.

  2. I think I agree a lot with what Ben has to say. I think a 1pt system could work out quite well and be a lot cleaner. There would have to be some big changes to the spell system, but with how much faster combat has gotten, I think that such a change would not be too far fetched.

  3. I'm curious what the benefit to getting rid of 2-pt armor would be? It would seem like it would result in even quicker combat and more of an emphasis on getting underneath someone's guard and wiggling. Although if both Ben and Tucker are in favor of it, I'm interested in hearing more.

    1. The machine gunning or wiggling really wouldn't get any worse than it is now. The big issue is that with the speed of combat it because really hard to track shots coming in at you in 2 pts. Most people end up overcalling in 2pts of armor. The average fighter who is struck four times in succession, say on his arm, is likely to just call dead, especially if another blow lands somewhere else in a random location, just because they feel like they have been hit enough times so rapidly that there is no way they can be alive.

From personal experience I think I see the most accurate shot calling (neither over or under calling) is from NPCs who aren't actually wearing the armor or worrying about gaps.

    2. I think it might actually revitalize the strategy of hacking someone's arm off. No way to tell right now though.
