Most folks I interact with are fascinated and supportive. A surprising number of people are more curious than anything. My coworkers always had questions (I had pictures on my desk) and my Roller Derby teammates think it is fitting, and some even want to come to an event someday to check things out.
Most of my immediate family are supportive, my siblings like clowning on me about because thats what they do, some of my coworkers have been genuinely interested others use it to clown on because we clown on each other when we aren't working.
My father has been very supportive and has even attended events. My brother has yet to attend an event but likes the swords we build and grabbing a few to whack people with back home. My mother "puts up" with it because she knows how much an effect the community's been in my life (though she still thinks it a bit of a waste of my time).
My dad says "You are the guys my friends and I beat up in high school."My mom walked onto a Realms site for five minutes, got weirded out, and left. It's a good thing they live in another state.
My mom and brother are very supportive. They are always asking me if I'm going to an event and then wanting to know how it went. My mother-in-law knows about it because we talk about it so much. She was also very supportive. When I ran for Queen of Hearts in 2004 my Mother-in-Law, my Mom and Brother came so they could actually see what it is we do and to better understand what we are talking about.
My mother Trina (Tree), and my uncle Garret (Targret) brought me to my first event "Water Wars 95'". My mother continued to play until she got marrired. My father said to me one day, "I always thought you would grow out of this stuff." He said that while camping on site because he had helped me truck down all thr gear I needed to conecticut for my first event as EH.
