How Sir Callin sends a message (as told by Jason Gray)

Some years ago, when I was still playing Baba, one very typical Callin story stands out.

Artex had been planning for months, how he could become a lich. He had been avoiding people, but making his plans publicly known.

Callin thought this was a pretty stupid idea, as it would mean that Artex would lose his humanity forever. Being Callin, he decided to deliver a message to Artex to tell him exactly what he thought.  Of course, being Callin, a standard missive simply wouldn't get his point across.

At a gathering, he came up to me and asked if he could borrow a magic item. Callin never cared about items, so it came as bit of a surprise when he asked. I agreed, and let him borrow an item that gave the wearer the ability of the spell Death Watch. When he didn't put it on, I was quite confused.

In typical Callin fashion, he got the members of Folkestone together, and told us to follow him. We did, and people around us started to grow a little concerned.

He stopped when he came upon Phoenix, who was in Rathkeale at the time, and as she started to look a little worried he told her that he just wanted her to deliver a message to her lord, Artex.  She agreed, and then Callin killed her.

We all stared...didn't she just agree to deliver a message?

Callin then proceeded to put the item he borrowed on her and said, "Tell Artex that this idea of becoming a lich is stupid and cowardly. Please reconsider as you have more to offer to the Realms by not being an evil, undead, abomination. These messages will continue until I get a response."

And then he removed the item, and walked away...cause that is how Sir Callin rolls.

Oh, and no one even lifted a finger to stop him they were so stunned.
